DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MYANMAR CITIZEN INVESTMENT DEPARTMENT
According to the Union of Myanmar Citizens Investment Law, Local/ Domestic Investment section is carrying out the following function.
(A)

Providing information about Myanmar’s economic, financial, social and investment opportunities to Myanmar citizens who are inquired and interested to make investment;

(B) Clarifying the Myanmar Citizen Investment Law, Rules and Regulations, and documentation requirements for any enquiries both in person and through telephone, fax and email;
(C) Checking all the required data and information whether it is complete or not when the investment proposal has been submitted.
(D) Getting recommendations and approvals from the concerned Ministries for those investment proposals;
(E) Submitting the complete proposals with the recommendations to Cabinet through internal Meetings and Commission Meeting after checking;
(F) Issuing permits and other formalities, such as, exemptions, duties and responsibilities which the permitted investors need to follow;
(G) Scrutinizing the list of machineries which are examined for investment capital which are brought by foreign currency, machineries and raw materials;
(H) Administering and processing for the increasing and decreasing of investment applied by the permitted investment;
(I) Scrutinizing and submitting to Commission for the amendments, such as, adding clauses, appealing, liquidation applied by permitted investment;
(J) Scrutinizing and submitting to Commission for tax exemptions and other reliefs by the requests of investors from time to time;
(K) Administering and reporting to Commission for the imports of machineries and raw materials as a investment capital by the permitted investments;
(L) Analyzing, administering and reporting to Commission and other higher authorities for the implementation and budget condition of the permitted investment by biannually and annually;
(M) Advising for the investment requested by the Government Organizations, Cooperatives and welfare and development committees;
(O) Processing and getting approvals from the Commission for the proposals made by Government Organizations, welfare and development committees and cooperatives for leasing or cooperating of their land, buildings and machineries or forming joint ventures with local business organizations;
(P) Issuing recommendations to the concerned authorities for the visa, stay permit and multiple visa for foreign technicians and expertise who are working at the permitted investment;
(Q) Publishing the books, publications, brochures and pamphlets for investment related matters and information for the local and foreign investors;
(R)

Filing and updating the list of permitted investment and their accounts fortnightly;

Reporting regularly to Commission and higher authorities for the work done by Commission by monthly, quarterly and annually;

(S) Implementing other jobs assigned from time to time;
(T) The duties and responsibilities of the Investment Information Collection and Promotion Team are as follows:
  (i) Distributing investment information with regard to the Union of Myanmar Foreign Investment Law and Myanmar Citizen Law and corresponding with the local and foreign investors;
  (ii) Scrutinizing the submitted proposals;
  (iii) Examining the investor’s financial background, economic scale and technology level;
  (iv) Administering the application of visa, capital increase, changing address and changing directors;
  (v) Collecting investment news and information;
  (vi) Reporting the business objectives to the Myanmar’s Investment Commission of the Union of Myanmar;
