WORKSHOP ON INVESTMENT PROMOTION AND FACILITATION, HPA-AN, KAYIN STATE

The opening ceremony of a workshop on investment promotion and facilitation (Lower Myanmar) jointly organized by Myanmar Investment Commission, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and DaNa Facility (UK Aid) was conducted at Hpa-An, Kayin State, on 14  June 2017.

HE U Kyaw Win, Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission and Minister for Planning and Finance; Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint, Chief Minister for Kayin State; Department for International Development (DFID) representative Mr. Robbie Barkell and Mr. Marc Proksch, Chief, Business and Development; Trade, Investment and Innovation Division, ESCAP, all addressed the workshop.

U Aung Naing Oo, Director General of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, gave a presentation on the new investment environment in Myanmar.

The workshop was convened to promote and facilitate investment in Myanmar and to strengthen the capacity development of the members of the Investment Committees of the Regions and States. 

The workshop was attended by 75 people including members of Investment Committees, the representatives from Chambers of Commerce and Industry and trade centers from lower Myanmar States and Regions, officials from the Myanmar Investment Commission and representatives from development partners. 

The workshop will conclude on 16 June 2017.
