CORPORATE GOVERNANCE WORKSHOP HELD

The corporate governance workshop supported by the US Embassy to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and The American Chamber of Commerce Myanmar (AMCHAM), was conducted at the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) head office, Yangon, on 5th February, 2018. The workshop was aimed to enhance knowledge of corporate governance, good international practices and support the reform process of corporate regulations in Myanmar.          

U Than Aung Kyaw, Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), John Fleming, Senior Commercial Officer of the U.S Embassy Myanmar and U Zaw Moe Khaing, board member of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Myanmar delivered the opening remarks respectively. Moreover, experts from PwC, KPMG, Ayuroma Advisors International and Baker McKenzie offered varied viewpoints about corporate governance and U Myo Min, director from Company Affairs Division of the DICA also discussed the new Companies Law. The face-to-face engagement with experts from advisory companies and representatives from public companies has facilitated fruitful detailed discussion.

The workshop was attended by 65 people including U Than Aung Kyaw and U Thant Sin Lwin, both deputy director generals of DICA and officials from DICA Union Attorney General Office, Internal Revenue Department, Myanmar Security Exchange Commission, representatives from The Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the US Embassy, US Department of Commerce and public companies.
