Investment Facilitation Workshop: Yangon Investment Facilitation Workshop–2025 held

Organized by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and the Yangon Region Government, the Yangon Investment Facilitation Workshop–2025 was held at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel on December 3.

The opening ceremony of the workshop began with traditional Myanmar cultural dance performances, after which Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Wah Wah Maung and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein struck the ceremonial gong to inaugurate the event.

Afterward, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister delivered their respective opening remarks. In her address, the Union Minister stated that both foreign and domestic investment are being encouraged and supported, noting that Yangon Region is a key economic center of Myanmar, accounting for 26% of the national GDP.

Therefore, the development of Yangon Region is crucial for the entire country. She added that, in line with the workshop’s theme “Building Confidence, Strengthening Collaboration,” strong collaboration between the government and the private sector must be continuously promoted.

Following this, the Yangon Region Chief Minister delivered remarks focusing on Yangon’s current investment environment, potential new investment opportunities, and the types of support the region and its government can extend to investors. The Union Minister and the Chief Minister then took a group photo with attendees and visited the exhibition booths.

A total of 31 booths, including those of MSMEs, were displayed at the event. Next, the Secretary of the Yangon Region Investment Committee presented investment opportunities in Yangon Region through a PowerPoint presentation. This was followed by a panel discussion titled “Enhancing the Investment Climate: A Facilitation Dialogue,” during which relevant officials responded to questions raised by business participants.

After that, nine local and foreign investors currently operating in Myanmar presented their project presentations, sharing experiences, strengths of their business plans, and production capacities. In the afternoon session, 24 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) related to trade and investment were mutually signed and exchanged.

These MoUs covered sectors such as rice, pulses, and sesame agricultural exports; solar electricity; livestock; and technology transfer. Finally, the Yangon Region Minister for Economy delivered the closing remarks, officially concluding the workshop. This workshop was held with the aim of facilitating and streamlining investment processes and promoting sustainable, long-term success.

More than 400 participants attended, including high-level representatives from the government and private sector, current investors in Yangon Region, domestic entrepreneurs, and businesspeople from China, Korea, Japan, India, Indonesia, Viet Nam.
