The Joint Seminar on Corporate Governance in Myanmar was held at Yangon Stock Exchange on 10th April 2019 with the collaboration of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Myanmar (SECM) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD).
The joint seminar aims to develop tailored and effective recommendations, to have a better understanding of corporate governance practice in Myanmar, to avoid excessive regulatory burdens for companies in Myanmar and to make survey on Corporate Governance Code.
At the Seminar, U Htay Chun, member of the SECM and Dr. MarlarMyoNyunt, Deputy Director General of the DICA delivered the opening remarks.
Then, the seminar was continued with the discussion topics;“Recent Developments in Corporate Governance” by U Myo Min,Director of DICA,“Advisory Committee for the Corporate Governance Reform in Myanmar” by Mr. Kenta Fukami, Senior Policy Analyst from OECDand “Updates on the Capital Market Reform” by Daw Tin May Oo from SECM.
The seminar was attended by 80 participants from companies.
