Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and Chairperson of Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC), U Thaung Tun and Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, U Ohn Maung, accompanied by officials met the representatives from Kawthaung Chambers of Commerce and Industry, businessmen from tourism sector and local communities on July 29, 2019 at 10:00 am at Victoria Cliff Hotel.

During the meeting, Union Minister stated that the region has potentials for the tourism sector development and MIC will support the necessary matters to facilitate the inflows of investment into the region. It is also important to ensure the quality and sustainable development when promoting the tourism sector investments in the region. For this purpose, Taninthayi Investment Forum will be held in October, 2019 to promote responsible investment in the region.

Subsequently, Union Minister emphasized on important roles of regional governments as well as local community and the government’s efforts that are the MIC’s investment facilitation to help the local community to ensure inclusive development and responsible and sustainable investment as well and the implementation of Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP).

Additionally, Union Minister reiterated that investment data showed tourism sector as main business of the region so that the existing scenic beauties should be sustained with the collaboration of private and public sectors.
