Myanmar Investment Forum held in Fukuoka (Kyushu), Japan

In order to enhance economic cooperation and investment promotion of Japan investment in Myanmar, the Myanmar Investment Forum was held on 14th February, 2019 at Hotel New Otani Hakata, Fukuoka (Kyushu), Japan. The Myanmar delegation led by Daw Nilar Kyaw, Minister of Electricity, Industry, Transport and Communication, Yangon Region Government and member of Myanmar Investment Commission, accompanied by U Aung Naing Oo, Director General for Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, was attended.

Mr. Koichi SHIOTA, Director General, Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry delivered the welcoming remark and Mr. Atsuhito SADAKARI, deputy mayor of Fukuoka City delivered the guest remark. Then, H.E U Thurein Thant Zin, the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Japan addressed the keynote speech.

In addition, U Aung  Naing Oo, Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission and Director General for Directorate of Investment and Company Administration gave a presentation focused on the latest trend of Foreign Direct Investment in Myanmar.

After that, Mr. Nagane from Nishida Seibaku Co., Ltd discussed the experience of operating business, the case study on introducing agricultural value chain and SDGs-related activities in Myanmar.

And then, the development of Thilawa SEZ presented by H.E Daw Nilar Kyaw and advisor Mr. MATSUI Yoichi, Thilawa SEZ Management Committee and trade liberalization and promotion in Myanmar presented by U Myint Lwin from Ministry of Commerce.

The Myanmar delegation also visited food processing factory at Fukuya Haku-Haku. During the visit, the responsible persons from factory presented their business operation and products.
