Official Launching Event for Trade and Investment Project (TIP)

An event launching for the Trade and Investment Project (TIP) which will improve trade competitiveness and business and investment climate was held at Chatrium Hotel in Yangon on 4th March 2019, organized by Ministry of Commerce, Directorate of Investment and Company Administration and the United Kingdom Department for International Development- DFID and International Trade Centre (ITC).

The event was attended 100 participants notably H.E. Dr. Than Myint, Union Minister for Ministry of Commerce (MOC), U Aung Soe, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Commerce, U Aung Naing Oo, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), and Mr. Arancha Gonzalez, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC).

Speaking at the launch, Director General of DICA welcomed that the Trade and Investment Project will look beyond Yangon, Myanmar’s economic capital and will contribute to the implementation of the Myanmar Investment Promotion Plan. He said one of the objectives of the Myanmar Government is to empower states and regional governments in their efforts to create sustainable economic development and prosperity.

After the launching, the Signing Ceremony of Project Concept Note between the Ministry of Commerce, Directorate of Investment and Company Administration and International Trade Centre was continued according to the agenda. The Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Commerce, U Aung Naing Oo, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), and Mr. Arancha Gonzalez, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) signed the Concept Note.
