Virtual Meeting on the Policy Dialogue on Clothing Operations to Produce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in Myanmar

A Virtual Meeting on the Policy Dialogue on Clothing Operations to Produce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in Myanmar organized by the DaNa Facility was held at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on 4th August 2020. The meeting was attended by a total of 30 participants led by U Aung Naing Oo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), Daw Naw Mutakapaw, Director General of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization, Deputy Director General and Officials from DICA, Representatives from the development partners and the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association and PPE producers.

At the meeting, Permanent Secretary U Aung Naing Oo delivered a speech on the Priority Medical and Medical Equipment Production for COVID Prevention and Director General U Thant Sin Lwin also gave a speech on the Investment in Garment and PPE Manufacturing. Daw Myo Myo Myint, the Director of Strategy from the DaNa Facility made a powerpoint presentation of the impact assessment on the COVID-19 on the Garment Sector and Production of Personal Protective Equipment in Myanmar. Afterthat, the participants discussed matters related to the policy support, standardization, potential market opportunities and challenges for PPE production.
