Workshop on resolution of investment disputes and grievances between investors and State

A workshop focusing on resolution of investment disputes and grievances between investors and State was held in Hilton Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw at 9:30 am on 24th March, 2017.

              The workshop, supported by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), examined the role of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) to help in resolving disputes over investments by conciliation, arbitration or fact-finding.

              U Thant Sin Lwin, Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (Coordination) and  Mr. Charles Schneider, Senior Private Sector Specialist of the World Bank Group delivered the opening remarks at the workshop.

              Mr. Gonzalo Flores, Deputy Secretary General of the ICSID then explained the Centre’s role in Investor-State dispute settlement to the 60 representatives from World Bank Group and officials from relevant ministries and the workshop was concluded at 12:30 p.m.
