The outcomes results on the Foreign Direct Investment Statistics Pilot Survey Workshop supports investment data collection [1]

Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) held the workshop that will support its collection of important foreign direct investment information in the future.

The objective of the “Information Workshop for the Foreign Direct Investment   Pilot Survey” workshop was to introduce the participating companies to the FDI pilot survey. The pilot survey is expected to develop a framework for DICA to conduct for further surveys with a wider coverage of companies based on the results of the survey. The participating company representative actively participated in the workshop sessions and gained a good understanding regarding the survey. Data gathered from the current and future FDI surveys by DICA are expected to assist DICA in compiling actual FDI statistics that will facilitate in participating in FDI reporting frameworks of ASEAN, IMF and other international organizations.

          The respondent of the pilot survey is expected to submit the completed forms before the November 15 deadline. The information collected will only be used by DICA for statistical purpose only and will only be published in aggregated format.

          The data information will also be used to compile Myanmar’s Balance of Payments and International Investment position. DICA is also currently in the process of producing draft FDI statistics  based on administrative data to participate in IMF’s Coordinated Direct Investment Survey (CDIS) on inward and direct investment positions.

The workshop was held with the collaboration of DICA, EU-ASEAN COPMASS Project and International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 24th to 26th October 2017. The three day workshop of FDI pilot survey involved around (100) randomly selected foreign companies among the 6000 Foreign Direct Investments Companies in Myanmar.
