Kayin State Investment Fair to promote regional growth [1]
Kayin State Investment Fair was held on 24th November 2017 in Hpa-An, Kayin State. The fair was jointly organized by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC), Kayin State Government and Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). The main objectives were to promote investment opportunities in Kayin State and to connect local businesses with potential local and foreign investors.
The opening ceremony of the Kayin State Investment Fair was attended by over 600 participants including U Kyaw Win, Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) and Union Minister for Planning and Finance, Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint, Chief Minister of the Kayin State Government, U Salai Lyan Lwe, Chief Minister of Chin State Government, Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, Chief Minister of Magwe Region Government, Dr. Aye Zan, Chief Minister of Mon State Government, Ministers of State and Region Governments, members of State Development Implementation Committee of Kayin Ethnic Armed Groups, Ambassadors, Director Generals, Deputy Director Generals and departmental officials from relevant Ministries, Representatives from the JICA and JETRO, representatives from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry(UMFCCI) and state and regional Chamber of Commerce and Industries, international organizations, foreign and local investors, business organizations, businessmen and local and foreign media representatives.
U Kyaw Win, Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) and Union Minister for Planning and Finance and Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint, Chief Minister of the Kayin State Government opened the Kayin State investment fair 2017 by cutting the ribbon and later Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from state and region government and guests reviewed the 22 booths of investment potential and products in Kayin State.
According to agenda, Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint gave the welcome speech and U Kyaw Win delivered the keynote speech. After that, U Saw Han Aye, Chairman of the Kayin State Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KSCCI), Mr. Masayuki Karasawa, Chief Representative from JICA Myanmar Office, H.E Mr. Jukr Boon-Long, Ambassador from Royal Thai Embassy delivered the opening speeches respectively.
U Aung Naing Oo, Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission and representatives from relevant ministries presented investment opportunities in Kayin State relating to manufacturing, agriculture, mining, electricity and energy, hotel & tourism, transportation and logistics respectively.
The participants of the fair took site visit tour to the Hpa-An industrial zone on the evening of 24th November and sightseeing tour to Hpa-An area were took place on 25th of November.
