Invitation to the Shan State Investment Fair on February 10, 2017 [1]

It is our great pleasure to invite you and your business community to the SHAN STATE INVESTMENT FAIR, which will be held at the Royal Taunggyi Hotel in Taunggyi in Myanmar on 10th February 2017(Friday), co-organized by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Southern Shan State Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SSCCI).

In order to promote investment in the State fairly, Shan State Investment Fair will be performed to pursue the following objectives: to understand business and investment climate of Shan State and its untapped opportunities for investment, to enhance linkages between Shan local business and foreign/domestic investors, to further enhance capacity of DICA Taunggyi which could assist potential investors with wide range of opportunities available in Shan State.

The Fair consists of the following four events:

  1. Seminar (High-level keynote speeches, presentations and panel discussions, including tentative summary of Shan State Investment Opportunity Survey currently conducted, will be performed by various stakeholders for 200 participants.)
  2. Exhibition (Booths of industrial parks, local industries  such as agriculture booth and handicraft,  and development projects such as Muse Central Business District Project will be displayed.)
  3. Business matching (Foreign Investors and the Shan State business community will have the opportunity to connect in the prospect of future partnerships.)
  4. Site visit (On the next day, 11th February, 2017, a tour is planned for those who wish to attend:  to visit some sites such as local industries in nearby area of Taunggyi.)

The Shan State is the largest state in area among states and regions of Myanmar. Shan State shares the long border line with China, Thailand and Lao PDR and acts as the most active gateway for border trade through Muse in particular, and Tachileik. It is also a prime location for border trade and huge potential for agriculture, food processing, tourism and other industries.
