Bangkok hosts Myanmar Insight 2019

Myanmar Insight 2019 was held on  23rd August, 2019 at Centara Grand Hotel, Central World in Bangkok, Thailand to raise awareness on Myanmar’s high economic potential and opportunity for Thai business community and to provide an update on Myanmar’s economic situation, current policies, laws as well as to introduce Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (2018-2030) and the Project Bank.

          Union Minister for the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Thaung Tun  was accompanied by Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Planning and Finance, U Set Aung, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Aung Naing Oo, Director General of  Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Daw Mi Mi Khaing, Director General of  Central Bank of Myanmar, Daw Myint Myint Kyi, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Planning and Finance, Daw Mya Mya Oo, and Director of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, U Myo Khaing Oo.

          Video message from the State Counselor H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was presented at commencement of the seminar. The Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, H.E. Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak delivered the welcome remarks and then the Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand,  Mr. Chaisiri Anaman gave the opening remarks. The Union Minister for the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Thaung Tun delivered the keynote adress on “Investment Opportunities in Myanmar for Thai Investors” and Former Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development and former Director General of World Trade Organization (WTO), H.E. Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi delivered the keynote adress respectively.

          Under the section of "Easing Investor concerns for doing business in Myanmar", Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Aung Naing Oo presented on "Opportunities regarding Thai Investment in Myanmar”, Director General of  Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Daw Mi Mi Khaing presented on "Electricity Supply and opportunities in the Electricity and Energy Sector in Myanmar", Director General of the Central Bank of Myanmar, Daw Myint Myint Kyi presented on "Myanmar Monetary Policy and MMK Trend", Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Planning and Finance, Daw Mya Mya Oo presented on "Myanmar Tax reform", and Director of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, U Myo Khaing Oo presented on "The Investment Opportunities in Yangon Region" respectively.

          In the afternoon section, presentation on “Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan and Project Bank” was conducted by H.E U Set Aung, Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Planning and Finance and representatives from the private sector of Thailand participated in panal discussion on "Practical View of implementating the Retail and Wholesale business in Myanmar" and "Expanding your Manufacturing Base to Myanmar" respectively.  The seminar was attended by more than (700) businessmen from Myanmar and Thailand.
