US companies seek investment opportunities

Twelve leading US companies visited Yangon on 30 September 2019, to seek out potential investment opportunities. U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General of DICA, and Directors received the mission led by Ambassador Mr Michael W Michalak, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director of the US-ASEAN Business Council.

During the meeting, both sides discussed tax and financial policies, responsible investment, and technology assistance.

A total of 30 participants attended - including representatives from Abbott, Rome Amazon, Bower Group Asia, Chevron, Chubb, Coca-Cola, Ford, Diageo, Google, Jhpiego, Mastercard and Visa, and the representatives of the US-ASEAN Business Council.

As of 31 of August 2019, the US ranked 13th out of 50 investment countries - with the investment amount being over US$432 million for 20 projects.
