The Mandalay Region Domestic Investments Promotion Seminar 2024 was held at Mandalay City Hall in Mandalay this morning. In the opening session, Dr. Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and U Myo Aung, Chief Minister of Mandalay Region Government attended and delivered speeches.
The event aims to explore the opportunities of investment, trade and agriculture, to get the awareness of investment laws, rules, and procedures, as well as the incentives under the Myanmar Investment Law, to facilitate and coordinate the challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
First of all, the Union Minister gave an opening remark that the Mandalay Region is the second Growth Pole of Myanmar connecting with the domestic major trade routes and also the vital hub of China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and Myanmar-India trade routes. Union Minister also highlighted that this seminar aims to encourage domestic investment in Mandalay Region, and urged all to make efforts to improve the production of local commodities and the development of the region's economy.
The Chief Minister of Mandalay Region Government also delivered a speech that out of the 500,000 acres of cotton cultivated in the agricultural sector of Myanmar, 190,000 acres of cotton were cultivated in the Mandalay Region. Chief Minister point out that farmers have to emphasize manufacturing of value added products based on cotton crop. Furthermore, Chief Minister spotlighted that Mandalay Region Government is inviting not only foreign investment but also local investment in the Mandalay region.
Then, U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration gave the presentation on “Investment Opportunities in Mandalay Region” with a power point presentation. The program also included a panel discussion on promoting investment activities in Mandalay Region was continued, and experts from relevant sectors participated in the discussion.
At the Seminar, Dr. Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, and U Myo Aung, Chief Minister of Mandalay Region Government, the Mayor of Mandalay, Regional Ministers and officials from Mandalay Region Government, representatives from the Mandalay Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, officials from the relevant departments and associations and businessmen about 220 attendees were attended.
In addition, Union Minister and party visited the Mandalay Region office of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, and cordially met the staffs.
